It has been screening films since 1993. Each edition runs over five days in Edinburgh in April, with a programme that combines UK premieres, rare classic films and short film programmes. The festival is a discovery festival: it shows new work and directors alongside classics. Past editions have hosted UK premieres of films by Peter Jackson, Mike Flanagan and Neil Marshall, and guests have included John Landis and Frank Henenlotter.
