It runs on a volunteer basis, is free to enter and works in English, Belarusian and Russian. Its programme combines competition sections for fiction, documentary, animation, experimental and Belarusian films with out-of-competition thematic programmes, and screenings are organised in other Belarusian cities and abroad. A jury names the best film in each section and the best Belarusian film, and the awards carry names such as Perpetual Motion and Perpetual Freedom.
