The festival dates back to 2012. Its competitions cover international and Latin American animated shorts, international and Latin American school films, Latin American animated series and Latin American experimental animation. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences lists the International and Latin American short film competitions among the qualifying festivals for the animated short Oscar. Alongside the screenings, the programme includes career talks, making-of sessions, a pitch for independent projects and the MAI! animation market. The 15th edition takes place in person at Centro Gabriela Mistral (GAM) and other venues in Santiago on 25–29 May 2026, with an online programme on the OndaMedia platform from 4 to 31 May 2026.
