The non-profit festival dates back to 2015 and presents international, Baltic Sea-Nordic, Lithuanian, Ukrainian and young-audience animation competitions, alongside animated features, game and VR exhibitions. Its Aware Game Awards focus on games that explore personal experiences and social issues. Industry talks and workshops connect the film and games programmes with professional practice. BLON is part of the Northern Animation Network with Fredrikstad Animation Festival, Viborg Animation Festival and REX since 2025, co-financed by Creative Europe MEDIA.
