It operates without public or governmental funding and judges entries on creative intent and execution, whatever the language, genre, budget or label. Each category has its own ceremony, where the videos screen in full and the winner receives a TV tower trophy; the category winners then compete in the Best Music Video category. Categories include animation, AI, low budget, cinematography and experimental work. The programme also features live performances, workshops, an outdoor area and a fashion show, a part of the festival since 2016.
