Its four competitions are Fiction & Documentary, Animation Avantgarde, the Austrian Competition and the Austrian Music Video Award (MUVI). Its non-competitive sections include international music videos, films for children and young people, and comedy. The association Independent Cinema organises the festival in Vienna, where its main award winners receive newly planted trees dedicated to them instead of trophies. Three-member professional juries award prizes worth around EUR 30,000 altogether. The festival provides qualification routes for the Academy Awards, European Film Awards, BAFTA and Austrian Film Award. Part of its programme also screens on THIS IS SHORT, the European Short Film Network’s streaming platform.
