Founded in 2013, it is based at Spool Contemporary Art Space and combines screenings with exhibitions, performances and other events, with the aim of bringing artists from the region together with those from further afield. The festival is led by David Chirico and Melissa Mischke, and its screenings are built as curated programmes, each assembled by a different member of a small curatorial team. The selection comes from an open call for recent work, completed in the festival year or the year before, from the United States and abroad; works in other languages are shown with English subtitles. The most recent edition took place over two evenings, 18–19 October 2024.",false,[22],{"year":23,"hasAwards":20,"hasSelection":15},"2021",[],[26],{"key":27,"title":9,"filmIds":28},"more",[29],1098,[],[32],{"entryId":29,"urlTitle":33,"status":7,"title":34,"synopsis":35,"duration":36,"hasFullFilm":20,"hasTrailer":20,"image":37,"directors":38,"series":17},"beauty-the-beasts-aggie-pak-yee-lee-hong-kong-2021","Beauty & the Beasts","One night, a lady meets a group of lovely beasts — gigantic, slimy and cheesy ones.
