Branko Karabatić founded it in Split, Croatia, in 1996 as an independent initiative, and it is held at the close of the summer season, in September. The festival looks for new, radical and personal work of any genre and length, from traditional film to video art, new media and practices based on artificial intelligence, and many of the films it shows are Croatian premieres. Competition and curated sections are treated as open frameworks: every submitted film is considered for the main competition and for the other programmes. International juries award the Grand Prix for Feature Film, the Grand Prix for Short Film and the Grand Prix for New Media in the gallery programme, along with the “Ivan Martinac” Award and a Special Festival Award.
