Les Nuits MED focuses on Mediterranean short films, with competitions linked to the region and an international competition for debut shorts. Organised by Diffusion KVA, the festival is rooted in Corsica and combines screenings in the Bastia area with touring programmes elsewhere in France. Its activities connect film presentation with development work through the MED IN SCENARIO writing residency, Talents en Court meetings and the Courts Entre 2 Rives Mediterranean cooperation programme.

The 20th edition in June 2027 includes Mediterranean and debut short film competitions and a retrospective panorama of films made in Corsica over twenty years. Its Mediterranean Pitches programme offers five selected short film directors mentoring and a presentation of their first feature projects to industry professionals.

Festival rules

For the 2027 edition, competition entries must run no longer than 59 minutes and be completed after 1 January 2026, subject to the selection committee’s stated exceptions. Mediterranean entries must have a connection through production, filmmaking, authorship or subject matter to the Mediterranean region; the debut short film competition is international. Fiction, animation, documentary and experimental films are eligible; advertising and institutional films are excluded. French subtitles and a film classification visa are required. Previously submitted competition films cannot be resubmitted. Selected films require a DCP and an H.264 backup, with French subtitles for films in other languages. Registration is through the official online form. The separate Corsican panorama covers short films shot in Corsica over the preceding twenty years.
