The festival welcomes filmmakers, cast and crew of any nationality and a broad range of LGBTQ+ identities, including work that challenges conventional ideas of gender, sexuality and family relationships. Fiction and documentary features, shorts, experimental films and artists’ moving-image works are eligible. There is no running-time or language restriction. Films must have been completed within the previous three years. Non-English-language entries require English subtitles. Premiere status is not required, although films without wide UK exposure may receive priority.

Only online screeners submitted through FilmFreeway are accepted; email, postal and physical-media submissions are excluded. Each submission covers one film, with a separate form required for each additional film. One accompanying digital press kit or information document may be supplied. Applicants must disclose publicity or promotional restrictions when submitting and hold full rights to the film. Correspondence is with the original submitter only.

Selected filmmakers must supply a DCP and the original digital file in MOV or MP4 format. The festival neither produces DCPs nor pays their production costs. Digital delivery to the technical team is preferred; DCPs on physical hard drives are accepted when digital delivery is impossible. Acceptance permits perpetual promotional use of publicity stills, trailers and film clips of up to one minute.

Fee-waiver requests must reach the festival before the early-bird deadline and are not guaranteed; later requests are not considered. The early-bird deadline is 1 November 2026, the regular deadline is 31 December 2026, and notification is 15 February 2027. Selected works receive a negotiated one-off screening fee based on industry standards and event size, covering all festival screenings, including the London edition and UK tour.","https://queereast.org.uk/",[42,46,50
"Email","info@queereast.org.uk","General enquiries
"Address","Queer East, Somerset House Exchange, Strand, London WC2R 1LA, United Kingdom","Festival office
"Website","https://filmfreeway.com/queereast","Film and moving-image submissions",1792450683]
