Australian awards cover Best Short Film, animation, direction, screenplay, cinematography, editing, original music, comedy and an emerging female director. FlickerUp youth awards recognise short film, animation and editing. The 2027 competition offers approximately AUD 30,000 in cash and industry prizes across these categories. A separate Specsavers television-commercial competition offers a AUD 150,000 prize pool.","The 2027 International, Australian and Documentary competitions accept short films up to 35 minutes, completed within the preceding two years, in English or with English subtitles. International competition is for films from outside Australia; Australian competition is for films made in Australia or by Australian residents; the documentary competition accepts Australian and international work. Australian premiere status is expected, with exceptions for other Australian Academy Award-qualifying festivals and at the programming team’s discretion. General competition films must not have been broadcast in Australia or publicly released online. FlickerUp accepts films under 25 minutes by Australian secondary-school students and Australian filmmakers aged 18 or under, with relaxed premiere restrictions. Selected films require H.264 or ProRes screening files. Substantial use of AI must be disclosed; films must remain primarily authored and creatively controlled by humans, and substantially AI-generated core creative elements are ineligible. Previously rejected films cannot be resubmitted. A selection of films tours Australia with screening royalties; inability to tour does not affect competition eligibility.","https://flickerfest.com.au/",[44,48
"Email","coordinator@flickerfest.com.au","Festival office and film submission enquiries
"Website","https://flickerfest.com.au/entries/","Film entry information and regulations",1792458904]
