Entries are submitted through the festival's FilmFreeway page from 2 March to 30 June 2026; selection results are announced by 17 August 2026. Entry is free, and selected competition films screen without a screening fee paid to their authors.

Eligible films are completed animated works lasting 30 seconds to 150 minutes and made on or after 1 January 2024. Films submitted in previous years, advertisements and unfinished works are not considered. Russian films are accepted in their original language; English subtitles are encouraged but optional. The Russian national competition accepts films made in Russia or elsewhere with a director who is a citizen of the Russian Federation. Russian films may participate in any competition, and the selection committee determines the final competition placement. Foreign films must be in English and/or have English subtitles. There are no restrictions on premiere status or prior online availability. Entrants guarantee that they hold the necessary rights to all material used in their films.

Competition films are intended for cinema screenings, but the festival may move entirely online if cinema screenings become impossible or unsafe. Selected films may screen up to five times during the festival in Moscow cinemas or on the festival platform. Public online screenings are restricted to Russia; the festival notifies the film representative in the selection letter of any extension of this territory. The festival does not cover travel to or from Moscow, airport transfers, accommodation or meals.

For festival publicity, the organisers may use film excerpts of up to 60 seconds and show teasers or trailers at festival venues, on television, on the festival website and in multimedia presentations. They may also use film stills in promotional materials and supply them to the media. Additional screenings in other Russian cities after the Moscow festival require separate permission for each event.

Screening copies should be Full HD (1920 x 1080), without black bars or cropping, encoded in H.264 as .mp4, .mov, .m2ts or .mkv, with a general stereo mix (2.0). ProRes, DCP or Blu-ray are accepted if an H.264 version is unavailable. Required supporting materials include three film stills in CMYK at 300 dpi, a film description, dialogue lists with timecodes or an .srt file with English subtitles, and a trailer link if available. The description includes synopsis, running time, production country and studio, year, directors, artists, producers, composer, animation technique, any Russian or world premiere status, professional/debut/student status, awards and participation in other festival competitions. Failure to provide a suitable screening copy by the required deadline leads to exclusion from competition.

Each competition has a three-member jury of animation professionals. Films made by jury members cannot compete in the competitions they judge. Jury decisions are final, and a jury may withhold a prize in any category. Results are announced at the closing ceremony on 2 November 2026. Winners are notified at or after the ceremony; the festival pays for courier delivery of prizes unless a representative collects the prize at the ceremony. Confirming participation means accepting the regulations.","https://multfest.ru/",[99,103,106,110,114,117
"Email","multfest@gmail.com","General enquiries
"v.fedoseev@multfest.ru","Cooperation and partnerships
"Website","https://filmfreeway.com/Big_Cartoon_Festival","Film submissions (festival page on FilmFreeway)
"Address","Perevedenovsky Lane 18, Moscow 105082, Russian Federation","Organiser office (Studio BFM)
"https://t.me/multfest","Official Telegram channel
"https://vk.com/multfest","Official VK page",1792305028]
