The Victoria Film Festival (VFF) has brought Canadian and international features, documentaries and short films to Victoria and Vancouver Island since 1995, in a ten-day festival held every February. It considers fiction, documentary, animation and experimental work of any length and screens across the city, including at The Vic Theatre, the cinema the organisation runs year-round. Its awards include Best Canadian First Feature and the Cultural Currents Award for a film that furthers intercultural understanding, alongside an audience award.

SpringBoard, the festival's three-day industry event, combines panels, masterclasses, meetings with programmers and one-on-one pitch meetings with decision makers from broadcasting, distribution and funding. Through the year the organisation also presents F1RST, a celebration of Indigenous film, and the CineKids education programme with screenings for schools. The 2027 edition runs from 5 to 14 February 2027.

Festival rules

Fiction, documentary, animation and experimental films of short or feature length are eligible. For the 2027 edition, only films completed in 2025 or 2026 are considered. Films that have had broadcast, streaming or theatrical exposure in the Victoria area before the festival, or that are available online before the festival ends, are not eligible. Entries are submitted digitally as a private, password-protected screener link, with two film stills. A selection committee appointed by the festival director and program manager chooses the programme and the award nominees. Selected films are screened from DCP or ProRes; international films must be delivered digitally. Shorts are screened in compiled programmes. Selected features receive guest passes for two representatives and short films one guest pass.
