SVA MFA Computer Arts

About

SVA MFA Computer Arts is a graduate department at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Founded in 1986, it was the first MFA program in the United States to focus on computer art. The program supports individual artistic development through animation, motion design and experimental art, with teaching by working professionals. Its first year broadens students’ knowledge of digital art and prepares them for a thesis year combining creative work, academic research and an artist’s statement. Workshops, visiting artists, guest lectures and internship opportunities supplement the curriculum. The department’s New York location provides access to galleries, museums, theaters and the city’s wider cultural life.
