Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg
About
Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg (FABW) is a film school in Ludwigsburg, Germany, founded in 1991 and run as a non-profit limited company wholly owned by the state of Baden-Württemberg. Its project-based, learning-by-doing curriculum covers 28 study and further-training options, among them fiction, documentary and commercial directing, screenwriting, cinematography, editing, production, film music, sound design, production design, animation, visual effects, technical directing and interactive media. Students work in interdisciplinary teams and make around 250 films a year; by 2026 the school's films had won nine Student Academy Awards. Since 2002 it has included the Animationsinstitut, its institute for animation, visual effects and interactive media, and it shares the Ludwigsburg media campus with the Atelier Ludwigsburg-Paris and the Akademie für Darstellende Kunst Baden-Württemberg.
