About
Zagreb Film is a Zagreb-based film production house, today the public institution Ustanova Zagreb film. Founded in 1953, it set up its animation studio in 1956, which became the home of the internationally acclaimed Zagreb School of Animated Film, and in 1962 Dušan Vukotić's Surogat became the first non-American film to win the Academy Award for animated short. It produces and co-produces animated, documentary and fiction films and series, and digitises, restores and presents its film archive dating from the 1950s.
